It’s Alive!

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

A big problem that I have with laptops today is that the battery usually dies out too fast. I have used laptops that can’t play a whole DVD without completely draining the battery. Even though it’s a lap top, if there’s not an electrical outlet around, then you might not get all the work done you want, or be able to continue with your movie or other tasks for very long.

This is one area that many computer companies fail in, but in which Lenovo has excelled. The battery life of a ThinkPad is generally considerably longer than that of a notebook from another company. Battery live in Lenovos depending on the model can last from 3 hours up to more than 7 hours!

ThinkPad X Series Tablet

The ThinkPad X Series Tablet is definitely among the more unique laptops. It’s highly popular for it’s flexibility. It’s the #2 ultra-portable laptop according to PC Worlds Top Ten Ultra-Portable Laptops and rightfully so. The screen rotates 180 degrees and can be flipped down to create a super compact working area.

This amount of flexibility makes it easy to use on an airplane or in a class room. It can be rested on your lap and easily used to take notes using its touchscreen and the digitizer pen. A lot of people like it’s ability to easily correct mistakes by erasing them using the opposite end of digitizer pen. It functions just like the eraser of a real pencil.

ThinkPad Notebooks: Spill Proof

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I was in the movie theater a few days ago watching the previews before the movie started. Turns out that a new Mr. Bean movie is coming out. One of the scenes in the preview took place on an airplane. A man is sleeping on an isle seat with his laptop in front of him. His laptop is placed right next to his coffee. Mr. Bean, as clumsy as he is, knocks over the cup of coffee and it spills all over the man’s laptop destroying it.

coffee.jpgThe first thing that came to my mind when I saw it was, “Too bad the guy didn’t have one of the new Lenovo ThinkPads.” The new ThinkPad has a drainage system built in beneath the keyboard to protect it. It can handle spills up to 60cc.

Now, if by accident, you spill something on your laptop, it won’t completely destroy it. It will just drain off. Certainly I wouldn’t recommend showering with the thing, but spills have gone from being devastating, to just not convenient.

Hat’s off to Lenovo for this one. I with it had come out earlier since I have in the past severely damaged my computer once or twice with careless spills.
